Corbett National Park
Nestling in the foothills of the Himalayas, the Corbett National Park extends over an area of 520.82sq.km. Varied topography and vegetation gives Corbett a rich diversity in habitats and natural beauty.

Dachigam National Park
Located very close to Srinagar (22km), Dachigam National park with its splendid forests and magnificent scenery is easily accessible. The two sectors of the park -Upper and Lower Dachigam are spread over an area of 141 sq. km. and altitudes vary between 1700 and 4300 meters.

Dudhwa National Park
Further east along the Terai, the Dudhwa National Park, which is also a Tiger Reserve, is located in the district of Lakhimpur - Kheri, very close to the Nepal border. The 498.29 sq. km. Park has fine sal forests and extensive grasslands.

Great Himalayan National Park
The largest protected area in Himachal Pradesh, the Park is carved out of the splendid mountain terrain of the Kullu district. Rich coniferous forests, alpine meadows carpeted with flowers, snow-capped peaks and glaciers provide a breathtaking panorama. The secluded Sainj and Tirthan valleys harbor a variety of animals common to this area.

Lying along the northern edge of the Chota Nagpur Plateau, the Palamau Tiger Reserve has an area of 1026 sq. km. The undulating terrain is set off by sal forests and thickets of bamboo. Though the Koel River and its tributaries cut through the Park.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park
Just 176 km. from Delhi is a very special wilderness - the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, one of the finest water-bird sanctuaries in the world. The 28.73 sq. km. lake and wetland was artificially created by the Maharaja of Bharatpur in the 19th century. By building small dykes and dams and diverting water from an irrigation canal.

Rajaji Sancturay
Spread over an area of 820 sq. kms., the park with its magnificent ecosystem, is nestled in the shivalik ranges. It represents the flora of several zones of the forest, reverine, broad leaf mixed forest, chrpined forest, scrub land and grassy pasture lands. There are 23 species of mammal and 3185 of avi- fauna here.

The nanda Devi National Park, spread over 630 sq. kms. of area in the vicinity of nanda Devi Peak (25, 675 ft./7816 mts), India's second highest mountain has a unique combination of flora and fauna.

Melghat Tiger Reserve
Largely dry teak forest in the Gaurilagarh Hills.The main ridge rises to over 3280 ft ( 1,000 metres ). The Tapi river flows along the northern border.The forest is dense and game viewing is poor. wildlife populations are on the increase. Tiger, Leopard and wild dog are the main predators.

Sultanpur Jheel Bird Sanctuary
Under threat from the State Tourism . Department's tourist complex which both pollutes the lake.Three quarter of the total area is marshy and the rest under babul ( Acacia spp ) trees. Within the lake about 30 artificial islands were planted.

Kangchenjunga National Park
Wet temperate forests at the lower levels, rising to the bare rock, ice and snow of the peaks.The park is bounded by Nepal on the West with some of the world's highest mountains stradding the border : Tent Peak, Nepal Peak, Kabur North, Kabur South and, of course, Kangchenjunga itself ( 28,179 ft/ 8589 metres ).

Chilla Sanctuary
The area has traditionallly been known for elephants that migrate through it. A few tiger, bear and small cats are seen along with interesting birds.

Panna National Park
Previously a hunting reserve of the Panna family, the area was declared a national park in 1981.The main attraction of the parks are tiger, sloth bear, wolf, chital, chinkara and samber.


Sanjay National Park & Sanctuary
The forest is largely sal with an attractive river flowing through. Tiger, leopard, chital, samber, nilgiri wild boar and much birdlife, are seen.

Bhagwan Mahavir National Park & Molem Sanctuary
The Forest is mixed and wet deciduous with abundant birdlife and a fair mammal population- leopard, sloth bear, chital, etc. Their present areas are 98 sq miles ( 255 sq km ) and 41 sq miles ( 107 sq km ) respectively. The national park forms the core area.
